Hi, I’m Stuart D. Jones, Ph.D.—author, educator, speaker, and advocate.

For the Love of Stephen is my debut memoir—a heartfelt, honest, and often humorous tribute to my remarkable brother, Steve. Born with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Steve defied society’s expectations and transformed every life he touched.

More than a family story, this book is a journey of love, resilience, and the unshakable truth that Steve was never broken. I wrote it for anyone who believes that every life has meaning, every voice deserves to be heard, and every story is worth remembering.

Because every life tells a story worth remembering.

Meet Stuart D. Jones, Ph.D.

Dr. Stuart D. Jones is a retired higher-education executive and former church minister who now teaches college courses part-time and writes with a passion shaped as much by life as by books. Over the years, he has spoken at many universities, churches, conferences, seminars, workshops, and leadership events around the world on a variety of topics. A devoted advocate for disability rights, he believes every life has purpose and worth.

Yet no credential has shaped him more deeply than being Steve’s brother.

Dr. Jones holds advanced degrees in both education and theology and has been published in several academic forums. For the Love of Stephen is his first work of narrative nonfiction—and by far, his most personal.

FOR THE LOVE OF STEPHEN

A true story of resilience and love.

Dr. Stuart D. Jones honors his brother Stephen, whose life with intellectual and developmental disabilities reshaped a family—and a worldview—around courage, humor, and hope. For the Love of Stephen invites us to look closer, to see people not as labels, but as lives fully lived.

“Stephen’s story is beautifully told through the eyes of his brother, Stuart. Steve was different, not less. You will love his story."
